Comfort

These verses were printed in the bulletin today. God knew just what I needed. I have no idea what the sermon was all about, but this passage was all I needed today:

8"But you, Israel, (A)My servant,
         Jacob whom I have chosen,
         Descendant of (B)Abraham My (C)friend,
9You whom I have (D)taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its (E)remotest parts
And said to you, 'You are (F)My servant,
I have (G)chosen you and not rejected you.
    10'Do not (H)fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God
I will strengthen you, surely (I)I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous (J)right hand.'
--Isaiah 41:8-10

Right now, my itunes is playing on shuffle, and what song is playing but one that talks about exactly what God has told me to do over and over today...rest in Me.

To all who are weary and those who are heavy laden
Lay at the feet of the one who loves you best
Bring all of your trials and all of your tribulation
Come unto me and I will give you rest
I will give you rest
Take my yoke upon you
Come and learn from me
For I am humble in spirit and so you must also be
Lo I will be with you in the midst of every test
If you run unto me, I will give you rest
I will give you rest

Thank you, so much God! Thank you that you are sufficient, that you are all I need. Thank you that I don't have to fit into any mold, that I don't have to immediately have a deep connection with a friend here, that I don't have to strive on my own toward anything, especially perfectionism. Why? Because your grace is deep, your love is all-encompassing, and my identity, worth, and security are all found in you. You are sufficient. I choose to believe that and rest in your embrace. I am like this helpless baby in your arms. Apart from you, I can do nothing. Apart from you, I know nothing, especially here! I'm starting from scratch, just like a baby with a world of knowledge to attain, and as much as I feel like striving, grabbing, and trying to get as much information as possible, I'm going to burn myself out even more than I already am. Instead, as I rest in you like this baby, you will be my Teacher, and that is so much better. You will teach me what I need to know when I need to know it. You know me better than anyone else, even better than I know myself, so I trust you to be my Teacher and to be the One who holds me. Thank you!
