Rocking out to music covering every era from The Carpenters to The Coors to NSync to Miley Cyrus to Owl City and many, many artists in between. You know you've lived in Asia too long when you're happy singing along to all of them! Oh, and for all of you who do live in Asia, you'll be shocked to know that Celine didn't come on till 4 1/2 hours in!! And only one song of hers all day! WHAT?!
Talking religion AND politics with one believer and two non-believers without every once getting into a scuff-- that would never happen in America!
| Entering the village. Its name translates to Candle River |
Goats and cows grazing along the side of the road.
Lots of green :)
Thatched roofs.
Kids playing with a tire and a stick.
A classroom of 28 unruly middle schoolers who couldn't hear me when I shouted at the top of my lungs (read NORMAL in this country). I realized today after being in multiple classrooms all over the south part of this island that I now know why the school day is 4 hours or less-- the teachers would go crazy otherwise and would age way too fast for their health!
| Trying to explain an activity in my 2nd language to a very loud jr high class |
2 squatty stops at a gas station, and it was actually fairly clean!
Rubber plantations.
Workers under umbrellas, which were attached to the culverts they were putting into the ditch on the side of the road-- creative, but I guess you'd have to be in 100+ degree heat!
Fish for lunch where they already cut off the head! Pleasant surprise :)
Great conversation about what we've been reading in the Word with my roommate in the car.
And now, Party in the USA stuck in my head. Overall a fun day seeing His creation, being reminded of lostness, and enjoying the company of a sister and two cousins.
