"But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream" (Amos 5:24).
All injustice in this world is really committed against God. All sin requires His justice because it is all done against Him. He has to carry out justice first and foremost for the sake of His name. He is holy and cannot tolerate sin. He is jealous for His name and cannot give His glory or worship to another. He has to carry out justice because of His love for justice and then because of His love for those He created who are victims of injustice.
Jesus knows all about injustice. He suffered greater injustice than anyone else ever has or ever will. In the greatest act of justice in all human history, He took all the sin of all mankind on Himself. Seems pretty unjust, since He did nothing wrong to deserve any of the Father's wrath, yet it satisfied the heart of the Father who required justice. Father had to suffer the pain of pouring out His wrath toward sin on His Son. Incredible justice. Incredible God.
As simple and basic as this all sounds, it really is like a new connecting of the dots for me! God is teaching me so much about His justice, something I've always been confused about. He's enlarging my picture/perspective/view/understanding of it, which is awesome!
